A glimpse into my life…
I don’t often share many personal things, but there has been quite a lot going on and I thought it could be a good time to “let you into my world”. From being a toddler mom, to organizing others lives… the days are long but the weeks fly by.
I’ll try to break it down and keep it short. But be warned, I can be a rambler.
Mom life-
I am a mom to a now 18 month old! Where has the time gone?? We don’t share much about her on “the internets” but I sure love to talk about her and show pictures. She is everything I imagined, even when she is being less than angelic (you know… back arching, tears flowing… all because of a toothbrush). She’s learning new words every day and I’m learning alongside her. I’ve got the “organization of stuff” figured out (of course I’ll admit, I’m not perfect) but continue to learn the rest of being a mom every day.
Oh, and she’s taking to the organized life pretty quickly :)
Christmas decor-
If you’re reading this any later than January 12, 2025, I sure hope that this is no longer true. But as of today, my decor is 90% still up. Now typically I take it down later than most but I am sure ready for a blank slate. See below in “My home” and “My clumsy self” for the reason that it is still up at this very moment. And rest assured, I support both tear down early (but not Dec 26) people as well as leave up longer (but not beyond February 1) people. I have limits you know.
My home-
Well this has sure been an adventurous month for our house. For those of you who don’t know (which is probably most of you), I live in a 96 year old 1.5 level home that used to be on an orchard, so we consider it a farmhouse. We are big DIY people but know when the pros are needed.
A few weeks after we went shopping for a new countertop (sounded like a good DIY winter project), our plans drastically changed when we found mold in a closet and spread throughout the rafters of our entire basement. So naturally on December 26, my husband and I began the process of emptying our basement and moving it from one side to another and then back again. The pros came in and the remediation went great. But as you know, the cobblers children has no shoes and the barrier to most projects is TIME. I.e. why most people hire an organizer in the first place.
Therefore, our basement is no where near put back together, and I haven’t completed my now new organizing projects in that space (holiday storage, baby storage, and workshop). So stay tuned for some potential updates in that area.
Also, sorry… that wasn’t short.
My clumsy self-
I’ve always joked that I am clumsy. Like I have fallen down the stairs more times than one can count. But yesterday I proved myself right again. Thanks to the ironically, unorganized, basement… I caught my foot (on a leaf blower) and my right knee took a blow of all of my weight right onto the concrete floor.
So thanks to todays rest and recovery day, you’re getting this life summary that you did not ask for.
Organizing for you-
On the docket this Spring: 2 Garages, 3 Kitchens/Pantries, 4 Basement Storage Spaces, 1 Art Space, 3 Elfa Closet Installs, 1 Kids Closet, 1 Craft Closet, 3 Closet Declutters, 1 Master Bath, 1 Dining Room, 1 Partial Unpack, 1 Command Center, 1 Nursery, 8 days of random projects tbd.
I am so excited to reconnect with some clients from a couple years ago and to begin with some new clients! Spring is booking fast, so please if you’re interested in decluttering or organizing help, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Before: An Overwhelming Space
A packed garage with a little shelving, and a lot of purging to be done.
After: Garage Project October 31, 2024
A garage that shows the true work this client put in to the organizing process. They decluttered and then decluttered some more. And with the help of some bins, shelves on wheels, use of wall space, and hours of work, we were able to make this transformation.
Organizing for me-
It might sound cliche, but I truly am decluttering our home all the time. I am by no means a minimalist, but I am always working to improve our spaces, and the first step to that is always decluttering.
I also want to clarify, I do not have a Pinterest perfect home. It is lived in, budget friendly and always a work in progress.
As for specific projects, thanks to the mold (see above), I am rethinking and redoing my linen/storage closet. And also get to reorganize my ENTIRE basement. These are projects that will take time as I have limited home time like most of you, but I love home projects to learn more about what organizing products and best solutions exist!
That seems like all there is to report for now. The life summary you didn’t ask for.
But I only thought it fair that so many of you have let me into your homes and your lives that I should share mine with you.
Talk soon.
